Govt.Ayurveda College Pharmacy
Govt.Ayurveda College Pharmacy Thiruvananthapuram, The main areas of this department are academics,research and drug development. This department deals with two major branches of Ayurvedic treatment, Ayurvedic Rasasasthra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. It describes the use of mineral drugs and its processing. Focuses on developing and formulating different dosage forms and its therapeutic application. Academic Activites Department provides training to 70 undergraduate students and 36 postgraduate students at a time this institution is the . Largest Postgrduate training center in the country , This department also provides facilities for various para medical courses. This department manufactures medicines required for the patients. Procures raw materials for the Practical study of PG students for the preparation of medicines and distributes them to the three hospitals under the college. Quality, standardization and drug testing of raw drugs, prepared drugs and investigational drugs by students and PHD students being done in the lab. Distributed to 3 hospitals under AVC Tvpm . Various medicines prepared in the pharmacy to ensures the quality of medicines in DT Lab and it is the quality of medicines is systematically checked and recorded is DT Lab.

Facilities:
  • Library of one hundred and fifty standard drugs ( crude dried plant parts,crude oils, raw materials of origin,resin,honey,wax etc)
  • Analytical equipment ( fuming hood, polarimeter, PH meter, refractometer, moisture analyzer, TLC analyzer, melting point apparatus etc)
  • Storing Raw materials required for preparation of various medicine is the objects of Raw Material store collection and distribution of finished drugs is the object of finished material store.
  • Experienced and Qualified Scientific officer and Scientific Assistants in this lab from Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram gives instructions as per the syllabus for PG students PHD students of various departments.(For their courses in practical and dissertation)
  • Research work on medicinal plants with special amphasis on Ayurveda is carried out in Drug Testing Lab. Our research findings are published in national and international journals.
  • Under the Technical assistants of various of staffs in the pharmacy the PG students are trained for the preparation of medicines and special medicines for 14 departments of Govt.Ayurveda college Thiruvananthapuram.
Activities:-
  • Quality control of crude drugs , crude dried plant parts, crude oils, raw materials of mineral origin, resin,honey,wax etc.
  • Testing of kashaya churna to check proper mixing of them.
  • Prepared medicines, medicated oils, ghee, arishta , asavam , churnam, examination of decoctions.
  • • Pre processing & Powdering Section (PPS) and processing section by Technical Assistants to facilitate the various stages of drug manufacturing (PS-I) Processing section II (PPS – II) and Quarantine & packing section (QPS) sections are headed by Technical Assistants to facilitate the various stage of drug manufacturing. This unit is controlled and supervised by chief medical officer and a medical officer.
