

Swasthavritha
The Department of Swasthavritha ,Govt. Ayurveda college,Thiruvananthapuram is a Post graduate Department that conducts MD speciality in Swasthavritha and Yoga since 1992 and PG Diploma in Swasthavritha and Yoga during 2019 November.
As a Community Medicine Department , Medical camps were conducted in and around Thiruvananthapuram District. Wellness yoga for Public, Therapeutic yoga for patients, and Yoga training for UG and PG students were given in the Panchakarma Hospital under the guoidance of faculties . These programmes were aimed to prevent diseases and preserve health through the application of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy.

Patient Services
The Department runs O.P on all days except Sundays on OP No: 2 of the Panchakarma Hospital. Each OP is handled by a teaching faculty assisted by PG students and House surgeons. Weekly two days OP being conducted for Geriatric patients in the Geriatric centre. Those Patients who need yoga training will be directed from the Swasthavritha OP.

IP Services
There are 19 beds in the General ward apart from Paywards in Panchakarma Hospital, KHRWS Paywards and Paying treatment . Among them four beds in the General ward are exclusively for Geriatric patients .They also have Payward facilities in Panchakarma Hospital and KHRWS Paywards.

- Persons above the age of 60 yrs visiting weekly in Geriatric OP for mainly Musculo skeletal problems associated with life style diseases. Each Patient gets medicine at a cost of 250 to 300 rupees, complaints are well managed and periodically blood parameters are checked.

Total 26 In patient capacity is available. Patients are admitted for seeking treatments for Osteoarthritic conditions , Neuropathy, Stroke associated with non communicabe diseases. Along with panchakarma treatment suitable diet advises and suitable therapeutic yoga exercises are given to the patient. Success rate is 99%
Yoga training sessions
- Persons are given wellness Yoga sessions of 1 hour duration from 8AM to 11 AM
- 50 – 55 persons are attending wellness yoga daily except sundays under two sessions.
- Quality of life is improved significantly.




- In the hospital yoga hall OP and IP patients are given therapeutic yoga exercises for Diabetes, Dyslipiedemia, Hypertension, low back pain, cervical pain, Obesity, Osteoarthritic conditions From 8AM to 1 PM.
