The department deals with clinical training of graduate students on Ayurvedic basics of diseases, methods of Ayurvedic diagnosis, as well as the modern clinical methods and diagnostic techniques. This department in fact bridges the Ayurvedic disease pathology and diagnosis with the branches of modern medicine like Clinical medicine, Clinical Pathology, Imaging techniques etc.

 

The Roganidana department became functioning as a separate department since 1998. Initially there were 6 teaching staffs and 17 non-teaching staffs in the department. Currently there are 5 teaching staffs and 16 non-teaching staffs working in the department. The department teaches the subjects - Rogavijnana Evum Vikruthivigyana for UG students focusing on aetiology, pathophysiology and clinical features of diseases.

 

There are OP and IP under the department that provides opportunity for the students to understand and practice the Ayurvedic and modern clinical methods and also observe different stages of diseases. The Clinical as well as the Biochemistry Lab, Pathology Specimen Lab, X ray unit, ECG unit, USG unit functioning in Govt. Ayurveda College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram are all annexed to this department where the UG students and interns are posted periodically as per the syllabus.

 

OP facilities are available on all days (except Sunday) under two units RN1 & RN2 from 8 am to 1 pm. 50 bedded IP facility is available in general ward, Separate Paying wards and Pay wards. Laboratory is well equipped with Advanced Electrolyte Analyser, Fully Automatic Biochemistry Analyser, Immunochemistry Analyser, Fully Automatic Hematology Analyser, HbA 1 C Analyser, ESR Analyser and other equipments to ensure accurate test results.
