Rachana Shareera
Scope of the Department


Understanding Anatomy and knowledge of Ayurvedic Anatomy helps students to understand human body thoroughly and there by making a basis for diagnosing and treating diseases.

About the Department


Rachana Shareera (Anatomy) is one of the pioneer departments of Govt: Ayurveda college Thiruvananthapuram. Its history dates back to the beginning of the college under the common roof of Shareera which was bifurcated as Rachana Shareera and Kriya Shareera with the advent of department system. This subject is one of the fundamental building blocks in the study of Ayurveda.

Theory classes for first BAMS, Practical classes such as Dissection, histology and Osteology. Classes for Ayurveda Therapy, Nursing and Pharmacy courses are dealing here.

Major facilities for students

Department has a well-equipped lecture hall with smart class facilities. It has the provision of comfortable seating for 100 students. The department boasts of an impressive dissection hall with sufficient cadavers. A well-organized museum with specimens, models, articulated and non-articulated skeletons, charts etc. Well-equipped light microscopes and binocular microscopes for histology. Department has a very good collection of more than 450 books including both Ayurveda and modern.

Patient care Services

Department staffs are handling OPD in alternate Saturday, Casualty duties , night duties and Sunday op.

Research activities

The Department had conducted “SAPS - Shareera for Ayurveda Paramedical Students“ - Aiming a complete text in Shareera for paramedical students. ( Both in English and Malayalam )

Achievements

  • Dr Sheeja C R : has presented various papers in state and national seminars. Participated in various seminars and workshops conducted by different departments of colleges. Attained KUHS CRM certificate. Co-investigator of the project “Paramedical Book”. Question paper setter for various BAMS, Paramedical examinations, PSC examinations for Assistant Professor , Therapist examination. A member of Various Committees in college, Board member of co operative society, Anti ragging squad
  • Dr. T R Suresh : had conducted CMEs and workshops in state level. Principal investigator of the ongoing project “ Paramedical books “
  • Dr. Sheeja C R : has presented various papers in state and national seminars. Participated in various seminars and workshops conducted by different departments of colleges. Attained KUHS CRM certificate. Co-investigator of the ongoing project “Paramedical Book”
  • Dr. Madan kumar M K :  Nodal officer of SSGP. Member of women protection cell and was in charge of tele medicine. Internal and external examiner of BAMS and paramedical examinations.

  • Dr Juno Vaidyan :  is having the teaching experience of 18 1/2 years in Mannam Ayurveda College, Pandalam . Was Professor in the same College,and joined in government Ayurveda college Thiruvananthapuram on 29.11.2023. Internal and External Examiner duties, Observer duties, member in various committees.
Lab

We have a digital lecture hall, histological lab, museum and dissection hall measuring more than 5000sq feet. Some photographs are attached.
