Panchakarma
Department of panchakarma began in the year 2004 as a division of kayachikitsa department in Govt. Ayurveda college Thiruvananthapuram. Later it flourished on to a separate branch and was relocated as a separate hospital at Poojappura in the year 2008. Currently the department functions with OPD with paying Panchakarma facilities, IPD consisting of General ward, Pay ward, Suite payward, Geriatric General ward and Pay ward, fully equipped Panchakarma theatres, minor OT for Para surgical procedures, Elaborate library with more than 1000 books, 1 Research fellow seminar hall, panchakarma museum and herbal garden. OP facilities for special concerns like Insomnia and Geriatric problems are also funtioning under the department. Various medical camps and communicable disease prevention steps have been held by the department. Every year 6 PG students are admitted under the department. 1 Phd seat is allocated every year. For the smooth functioning of the department a team of interns are posted on rotation basis.
Treatments are given in the form of preventive, promotive and curative aspects which provides utmost care and comfort to the patients.

Facilities
- Blood investigation lab attached with O.P.D.(Tests will be done for free of cost for B.P.L card Holders).
- Departmental Library for students.
- Well equipped physiotherapy unit with a Physiotherapist Dr. Saranya, BPT. Timings: Monday to Saturday 9.00am to 3.00pm

O.P - Every day O.P.D from 8:00a.m to 1:00p.m (excluding Sunday)
Special O.P.D. on every Monday, Thursday, Saturday on insomnia.
- All Panchakarma main treatments (Pradhana Karma) like Vamana,Virechana ,NiroohaVasti, AnuvasanaVasti, Nasya are administered.
- All types of oleation and sudation therapies such as abhyangam, pinda swedas , murdha tailas , localized vastis such as kati vasti etc are administered.
- Powder massage (udwarthana) ,drying therapy (ruksha sweda, kadi kizhi, dhanyamla dhara etc) which helps in reducing conditions such as obesity ,diabetes ,edema, excessive sweating is administered in our department.
- In our Minor O.T treatments like Shiravyadha(Blood letting), Agnikarma(cauterization), Jalaukavacarana(leech therapy), Different types of Bandaging, Naasapanam are administered.
- Paying Panchakarma treatments are done daily from 8.00 am to 3pm (External therapies)- O.P.D Basis.
- I.P- Panchakarma New Block- Male General Ward, Female General Ward, Pay Ward and Suit Rooms.
- Geriatric Old Block-Male General Ward, Female General Ward, Pay Ward and Suit Rooms.
- K.H.R.W.S Pay Ward- A.C rooms with attached treatment room equipped with modern amenities.
